About Me
I'm an engineer at heart who thrives on solving complex puzzles, whether it's restoring an old car, repairing a broken gadget, or creating something entirely new just to see how it works. I enjoy building teams as much as I like building things—I'm proud of the tight-knit, effective group I fostered at One Network Enterprises, where mentoring and genuine teamwork have been key to our success. I'm empathetic, collaborative, and always eager to learn, making me as comfortable working solo as in groups.
My tenacity has also led me to teach myself how to weld, design a hydraulic suspension for a car, and take on various challenging projects just for the sake of learning. When I'm not tackling projects, I love simplifying big ideas to explain them to my 6-year-old daughter, who has also inherited my talent for making up ridiculous song lyrics to everyone else's dismay.
When I'm not working or creating, I'm out exploring with my family, watching Tottenham Hotspur FC, or playing my guitar (though I'll be the first to admit I'm not great at it). I love sci-fi books, adore dogs, and once enjoyed rum and raisin ice cream with a priest named Elvis in Trinidad. I've lost a tooth playing miniature golf and even drove from Dallas to Chicago just for a slice of deep-dish pizza—because why not?
Professional Background
One Network Enterprises –
Lead Content Developer and Team Manager
2016-Current
In my role as the Department Head of Technical Communications at One Network Enterprises, I led the evolution of our documentation team from a single writer (myself) to a robust, fully functional department. Despite not carrying a formal Director title, my responsibilities encompassed the scope and complexity of a director-level position. I built the technical writing team from scratch, introducing modern content strategies, such as implementing a CCMS for content reuse, which streamlined workflows and improved efficiency across the organisation. I oversaw our team’s contribution to the product life cycle, collaborated cross-functionally with engineering, product, and support teams, and ensured our lean group of writers consistently met deadlines while delivering impactful, user-friendly documentation. My passion for mentoring also helped foster a collaborative culture, contributing to low turnover and high team morale, all while elevating our output to meet the growing needs of a fast-paced, agile environment.
One Network Enterprises – Principal Technical Writer
2014-2016
At One Network Enterprises, I took on the role of Principal Writer, working on complex documentation for SaaS supply chain solutions. My focus was on transforming intricate software concepts into accessible content for diverse audiences, including technical teams, implementation engineers, and end-users. During this role, I authored end-to-end guides, deployment instructions, and developer references. It was about making sure that content was not only accurate but intuitive and useful. My ability to break down highly technical concepts into clear, actionable instructions became a defining strength, and I gained a deep understanding of how to serve audiences at different stages of product implementation.
AT&T –Technical Writer
2013-2014
At AT&T, I focused on developing documentation for mobile application software used by enterprise clients. My work included creating user guides, implementation instructions, and troubleshooting resources for mobile apps designed to support remote work and enhance productivity. Collaborating closely with product teams, I ensured that the documentation addressed user needs effectively while maintaining accuracy and clarity. This experience allowed me to bridge the gap between technical content and the real-world applications of mobile technology, refining my ability to make software approachable and user-friendly, even in complex enterprise environments.
Cisco Systems -
Senior Technical Writer
2010-2013
My time at Cisco further deepened my technical expertise, particularly in networking and telecom. I worked on hardware installation guides, release notes, and end-user content for a range of enterprise-level routers and switches. I collaborated closely with engineers and product managers, which allowed me to bridge the gap between highly technical internal documentation and the needs of end-users. This position solidified my focus on quality and consistency, ensuring that each piece of content aligned with Cisco’s rigorous standards. Here, I sharpened my ability to quickly learn about new technologies and explain them to diverse audiences, helping customers make the most out of their networking investments.
